Guernsey Gas are creating a website www.greenerguernsey.com. It will be available from first thing on Friday 20th June 2008. The website will declare the estimated cost and environmental effects of some aspects of the Energy Policy which is going before the States of Guernsey on 25th June 2008. The costs are significant, hundreds of millions of pounds. Many of the costs are derived using figures from the Energy Policy document. If you are in doubt please visit the website and make up your own mind. If you can’t or don’t wish to access the website please call Guernsey Gas and ask them to provide you with an information sheet.
With regard to recent media coverage which challenged Guernsey Gas’ view. The comments came from somebody who had not had the opportunity to attend one of Guernsey Gas’ presentations hence, they haven’t heard our view first hand or in full. Guernsey Gas are concentrating on getting the message out to States members first. After we have communicated with the States members we would be more than happy to discuss any issues that we have raised with anybody.
